The Qantas Australian Wallabies have broken a decade long drought by winning the Rugby Union Tri Nations last night in Brisbane. Their 25 - 20 victory over the New Zealand All Blacks confirms the Wallabies as a genuine threat for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, which will be played in New Zealand from September 9 to October 23, 2011. To date the Rugby World Cup has been won by Southern Hemisphere countries five times out of a possible six. Australia has a chance to be the first country to claim three World Cup victories having previously been the winner in 1991 and 1999. The Queensland Reds victory in the Super 15 and the Qantas Wallabies taking out the Tri Nations is proof that Australian Rugby Union is in good form.
