Olympic Softball deserves another hit
Softball was particularly unlucky to be cut from the Summer Olympic Games program for London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016. Baseball has suffered the same fate but softball had the Olympic Games as its apex, and as a sport it does not have a major league, which makes it deserving of Olympic status. In Australia softball is played in most schools and participation rates far exceed those of baseball and many other sports. Despite this a generation of softball players around the world won't have the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games. I am confident however that softball will return for the 2020 Olympics, but ultimately it should have never been cut from the program in the first place.
