San Diego Padres: Four Aussie Amigos

The San Diego Padres are like a home away from home for Australian baseball players. With nice warm weather and sparkling beaches San Diego is a comfortable city for Aussies. In 1991 Craig Shipley became the first Australian to play Major League Baseball with the Padres, followed by Mark Ettles, Chris Oxspring, and Justin Huber. At present the Padres are equal second with the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers for number of Aussies to play on a MLB team. The Padres usually have multiple Australians within their farm system, and this is the case for the 2011 season with pitching prospect Josh Spence.
