Florida Marlins: Aussie Big Fish
The Florida Marlins have some interesting Australian Baseball History. In 1993 they signed Australian Rules Football player Justin Charles, and to date two Aussies have played Major League Baseball with them. The first was Mark Hutton in 1996 followed by Graeme Lloyd in 2002. Despite spending his career as a pitcher Hutton enjoyed his time in the National League where he had the opportunity to bat. During his MLB career he had 24 plate appearances and a lifetime batting average of .304 including one home run. Whilst the Marlins don't currently have any Aussies within their farm system they have generally stocked one or two Aussies per seasons over the years.
