Atlanta Braves: Aussie Bravehearts
The Atlanta Braves patronage of Australian baseball talent dates back to the 1980's. But it was in the 1990's that the Braves set the record for the highest signing bonus for an Australian amateur free agent. In 1993 the Braves signed Glenn Williams for approximately 1.2 million Australian Dollars. So far three Australians have played Major League Baseball with the Braves. The first was Damian Moss in 2001, followed by Peter Moylan, and Phil Stockman. Moss displayed impressive form with the Braves in 2001 and 2002, and Moylan has established himself as a regular major league player since 2006. The Braves usually have multiple Aussies within their farm system too.
